South West Marine Consultants was set up in 2020 by Capt Rich Eggleton AFNI to provide specialist tailored maritime services. Rich is an experienced maritime professional with over 20 years experience in the industry. Along with his own wealth of knowledge and experience, he has a network of talented experts in marine consultancy, merchant shipping and marine surveying so South West Marine Consultants are well established to provide maritime services tailored to your needs.
South West Marine Consultants are based in Dartmouth, Devon, UK.
Rich Eggleton is an experienced Marine Pilot, Master Mariner and Captain with over 20 years experience in the maritime industry. Rich is also Helm for Dart RNLI and Lifeboat Training Co-ordinator, and spent some time working for Tower Lifeboat in London. He has also been a Board Member for the Dart Harbour and Navigation Authority, as well as stepping up to Interim Harbour Master in 2020. Rich currently sits on the Board of the newly formed Exeter City Council Harbour Authority and is an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute.
Ben Wheatley is an experienced Master; having spent over 20 years at sea, much of this in the Sail Training sector. He is also a Marine Pilot and a Marine Superintendent with a background in Operations and Project Management within the maritime industry. Ben specialises in Safety Management System review and development and is an ISM Lead Auditor.
Keen to pass on skills and knowledge to others, Ben is a qualified instructor in small vessel operations. He is also a Member of the Nautical Institute
